splish splash

On Sunday afternoon, Rich wasn't feeling well. I decided to leave him in the room to rest and ventured out on my own around Carmel, the cutest little town there ever, ever was. The most colorful of all the stores (they wouldn't let me photograph it, sorry!) was Lush. You'd never know it from their website but it really is a cute store.

They serve up what they call "Bath Cocktails"...all bath products designed for single-use. A bath bomb here, a lotion bar here, a bubble bar there...and $15 later you have what they promise to be an unforgettable bath experience.

I carry my parcel back to the hotel, fill the jet bath with water and climb in. I add my bath cocktail ingredients, one at a time, turn on the jets and within seconds...

this is what happened!

That's me STANDING UP (I'm 5'9") in the bathtub! Talk about a Lucy and Ethel moment! All I could do was laugh and laugh and laugh. The jets don't turn off until you unplug the tub so I had to hold my breath and go under.

I told the front desk what happened, just in case the bubble experience had any result other than a squeaky clean Amy and a squeaky clean bathroom. Rich didn't think I should share this photograph on the blog...but tell me, how I could I tell this story without a picture to prove it???

Oh, I did ask the people at Lush if I could use the products in a jet bath. "Oh sure!" was the answer. I think I need to show them this picture.

I'm happily back home, still squeaking from cleanliness. I have a million and one things to do but I am so happy. So happy. What a wonderful trip away that was! It was heaven. And I didn't even know how badly I needed it.

Only YOU, Miss Amy, could get away with a photo of you in the bath and not have it flagged as 'objectionable content'!!! You crack me up!

Oh Amy!!! Love this post so much!! I have never been in a Lush store but Kurt always cruises by the one in the airport in Orlando when he's traveling to keep me stocked up! I know it's available by mail but there's something so much more fun about a bag of goodies--picked by my sweet hubby! You know there is a Lush store in DC--maybe we should round up a group of fun friends and have a field trip!! Welcome home!! xo-Mel

I can only imagine that a holiday with you, dear Amy, would certainly be full of bubbly cheer. Obviously so. We have Lush boutiques all over Canada, as they are from Great Britain, I think... anyway, they do smell great, and aren't the stores coool? The blackboards and the sliced soap especially. Hugs!

That must be a record for bubbles. Lucky the shower/bathtub had glass doors. Way TOOO funny. Glad your vacation was wonderful. I checked and there is a LUSH store here in Dallas. I'll have to go check it out.

Yes - we LOVE LUSH!! But we have had the same experience in our whirlpool bath only it just spills out the sides of the tub - It lasts longer (and not as many bubbles) if you just use just a portion (like 1/4) of the bubble bar....but I love that store! At least you had a good time!

Oh my gosh I'm dying here. ROFL That is one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen. I can totally imagine how utterly laughable it must've been. You had to think it was some sort of bizarre dream. LOL Too funny! And yeah, the photo was definitely necessary for the story. :)

amy - great trip, thanks for sharing. i've always wanted to go to carmel, next time i'm in cali i'll have to make a stop.

too funny about the bubbles - that actually happened to my kids when they were little and we had a portable jaccuzi thingie that hooked on the side of the tub...i turned my back for one minute then heard "mom, where are you!"

This is hilarious!! I can relate because this has happened to me before! I was laughing so hard I could not turn off the jets! It was unbelievable the amount of suds and how fast they multiplied! LOL Glad you had such a good time! :)

Wow!!! I love LUSH!! That looked like fun. :o)

I'm surprised the SA didn't tell you that you should only use a pinch of the bubble bar instead of the same size you'd use in a standard tub! I work for Lush and we've had several people come in and tell us that they ended-up having quite a bubble extravaganza, but I've never seen anything like this!
