studio in waiting

I had a dream that I went into my studio to get something and it was all different. It looked like a Jiffy Lube waiting room instead of my studio.

Truth be told, it does look a whole lot different than this photo. The floor is a mess of things just tossed in, by the basket, boxes, and bag-fulls.

I think the waiting room dream is a metaphor. And I do miss making things in there. This week, I'm hoping to make more than just a pathway through the debris and really recreate an inspiring place.

I'm trying to line up a mother's helper from the neighborhood to come by a couple of times a week. That'll help free up some time.

Baby's napping and I've got a list of things to do.

I hope you have a good week ahead of you. I'll check in when I can.

p.s. I somehow overwrote the last post. I think it's gone forever. :(

Your studio is so inviting. I love all the jars and treasures displayed. I am in the midst of cleaning and rearranging my room this morning. I have too many interests and supplies and can feel anxiety creeping through me.

So beautiful, Amy! And YES- DO hire a mother's helper. Just an hour or two to create while you know baby is having fun in the next room with someone else will do you wonders! Trust me!

It's really hard to make time for oneself, when you have a baby to care for. Hopefully you will be able to get some help. So many women feel like they lose their identities when they raise children. Don't lose sight of yourself and find a balance.

Good Luck!

Dear Amy, I just love your site and your blog and have for almot 2years. I will go out on a limb to say that when I heard you were getting a "wee one" or two, I thought we'd be losing the "you" we've come to know. The Amy with something new all the time and bright and colorful products, going to and reporting on fun places and shows... always plenty of ideas and great chat. I am a loving mother and lovestruck Grandma, so don't get me wrong, I adore kids, and I can't get enough of mine. I guess I felt a strange feeling somewhere between "sibling rivalry" and sadness because I felt part of you was going away and would never be back, especially not in the same way. I even quit looking at your blog everyday, because it was so much about the baby coming, and not the same you. I hope this doesn't sound selfish, and that you don't get the wrong idea about me! I just thought in your post, you were really seeking the truth, and I felt like I should "pony up" and tell my real feelings, and my first one was "oh no... there she goes, we've lost her!" Anyway, I've started looking again, and I'll always be your customer too! Take care and God Bless, and I hope you go for exactly what you want, even if it is 10 kids! You're a doll, and deserve to be happy! Your little one is very lucky to have you!

Amy, that is one lovely space! Do find yourself a mother's helper. Back in my sewing days I had a high schooler come in 2 days a week for about 4 hours at a time. It was marvelous! She'd play with the boys, fix them lunch, answer the phone and so on. I could hole up in my studio, close enough for emergencies, listen to laughter and get tons done. Nurturing your own creative side will help you stay balanced and that makes for happy mommying! :)

I've been on redoing a craft space at my parents house -- where I go with Baby Coe when hubby deploys with the military. I've been debating on jars for a while -- your studio was so reaffirming to help me make my final decision. Thank you!

It has been difficult for me, as well, to find time to create. I've found that even when I can't hide away in my studio for a day, I can at least choose a project where Baby Coe can be involved, as well. It satiates my need for creativity and gives us a chance to do something fun together. I hope you and Studio have some time to visit each other again soon!

Amy~ I love your studio! Please tell us more about the cabinet. It is amazing. My 16 year old daughter and I are creating a shared workspace. We need lots of storage. Thanks for sharing!

Wow, your studio is so organized. I am so jealous!

I believe I met you on the Victoria boards, weren't you? Then Coterie Bliss, Bliss Sisters, etc.
